And SIN started

"In the beginning" starts the most interesting book on planet Earth. The following describes the association of God with His creation and the initial separation from God occurring in the Garden of Eden.
The history of this moment is that God spent time with Adam naming all the animals and not finding a helper for him. (Genesis 2:18-19) I consider this to be a span of time considering the limiting factor being Adam's physical ability to look, decide, and name each animal. I further want to note that Adam wasn't limited to this activity. He had other assignments as well. Genesis 2:15 - Adam was placed in the Garden to dress it and keep it. He had responsibility for a plot of ground. All this is to note there was a period of time and association while in communion with God.
After finding out that there was no helper suitable for him, God places the first surgical procedure on Adam's ribcage. I would tend to speculate that the first scar was formed to show Adam his contribution of his helper. It is possible that he went to sleep and God informed him of the procedure later, however, I think the permanent suture line would be more of a reminder to himself and later Eve as to her origin. Mind you, this is pure speculation on my part.
Enter eve and the first wedding ceremony begins where God brings the woman, man takes her, and gives her his name. They begin to relate and operate in the garden under the single rule that God provides.
Somewhere there is a poor translation of the initial instruction that God gave and when questioned, she provides an augmented answer that takes the rule and expands its application allowing the challenge that leads to her demise.
At this point, I want to note that sin wasn't accorded to Eve, but only to Adam and it is on this last point I am aiming.

Eve was the individual who was deceived, Adam was the individual who is cited with bringing death.

I consider this from the moment between Eve's disobedience and Adam's. Eve was deceived, not Adam and as such it must reason that Adam did know what he was doing. Before he ate, Adam had the opportunity to accept God, the one with whom he spent time, named the animals, went through surgery, was assigned work, was the provider of Eve, or accept Eve and join her in the transgression. His act displayed him placing the gift above the Giver. The first sin was idol worship. His act separated him from God and affected the rest of creation.
I wonder what would have happened if he had let go of Eve. Would have there been a different societal structure , or the same result following Genesis 6:2 where the descendants of each side of relating to God mingle? The rest of humanity and religions form around the concept of knowing God or being separate from Him. As such I consider the term sin to be an acronym meaning Separate In Nature. Those following Adam, by their actions, place something above God and as such are separate from Him.
The result of religious practice is to facilitate knowing God again.

Welcome

I have started this blog with the express idea of being able to have a devotional online that includes research material for the curious in mind. All presentations will be for the purpose of expressing Bible, not church theology of some flavor. In that stead, I will solicit sermon outlines for inclusion here with the request that they have simple thoughts included with the outline and be open to research. The list to the right is a beginning, and of course, if you have other sites that will provide information. please submit them too. I have tried to find concordance material, maps, history, and even personal helps including books which have proved interesting to myself. May God bless you as you serve Him. Philip
